The Republican will face the Democratic congressman in Mississippi's 2nd District

Ron Eller wins Republican runoff in Mississippi 2nd District, will face Democratic Rep. Thompson. Eller will face longtime Democratic Rep., who has been in the district for more than 40 years. He will be the first Republican to face a runoff in the 2nd Congressional District.

Republicans Ron Eller and Andrew Scott Smith advanced to the GOP runoff for Mississippi's 2nd Congressional District. The winner will run against Democratic Rep. Bennie Thompson, who has been in the district for more than 40 years. The runoff will determine which Republican will challenge the longtime Democratic incumbent.
