The Mets will honor the 60th anniversary of the opening of their stadium

The Mets will commemorate the opening of Shea Stadium on the 60th anniversary of the stadium's opening. Shea Stadium was the first ballpark they could truly ever call home. The Mets to honor the opening day of the ballpark's opening ceremony on Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m.

Jack Fisher started the first game at Shea Stadium on April 17, 1964. The opening coincided with the World’s Fair held that year in Queens. Fisher will be among those at Citi Field on Tuesday to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the opening of the stadium.
