Anthropic's Claude chatbot expands reach across Europe with Google's backing
- Anthropic's Claude chatbot, a competitor to OpenAI's ChatGPT, is now available across Europe.
- The chatbot can be accessed via the web and iPhones in countries like Switzerland and Iceland.
- This move marks a significant expansion for Anthropic and Google's presence in the AI chatbot market.
Anthropic, a startup supported by Google and Amazon, is launching its AI chatbot Claude in Europe. Claude competes with Microsoft's ChatGPT. Claude was available in some countries but is now accessible online and on iPhones in the EU and a few non-EU countries. European businesses can use the "Claude Team" plan for 28 euros per month. Anthropic was founded by former OpenAI executives and siblings Dario and Daniela Amodei. They recently introduced a business-focused version of Claude, potentially competing with Amazon and Google. Dario Amodei, Anthropic's CEO, is excited to see how people in Europe use Claude for tasks like speeding up science or improving customer service.
