Story

Six women and one man got minor injuries, and one person is still in the hospital. Oksana Pikhtina, a resident, talked about how scary it was to wake up to explosions and broken glass. The top commander in Ukraine said that Russian forces are getting ready near Kharkiv, but they don't have enough soldiers for a big attack. Ukrainian forces are making their defenses stronger and stopping recent attacks. The State Emergency Service said that homes and buildings got damaged a lot. One building with five floors got hit and the top part fell down. The Russians did "double strikes," hitting places again after emergency teams came. They shot six missiles that caused a lot of damage. The Mayor of Kharkiv, Ihor Terekhov, and Governor Syniehubov confirmed what happened, and rescue teams are still working. They think more people might have died. Three people died and 16 got hurt when Russian missiles hit three places, including a five-story building in Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-biggest city. The Regional Governor said the missiles, probably S-300s, also hit a shop, a three-story building, and a garment factory. The attacks were like "double tap," hitting places again when rescue teams were there. This happened around midnight local time. The Governor said some kids, an emergency worker, and others got hurt, and some people might be trapped in the building. The Mayor said the third, fourth, and fifth floors got destroyed, and the stairs and walls got damaged. The Police Chief thinks more people might have died because of how bad the damage is. Kharkiv, close to Russia's Belgorod region, has been attacked again recently. Last weekend, 17 people died when Russia bombed a store in the city. Kharkiv had about 1.5 million people before the war and stopped Russian attacks at the start of the invasion in February 2022. Moscow says they don't aim at civilians on purpose. The US said President Joe Biden let Ukraine use US weapons against Russian targets near Kharkiv.
