- GM elevates two former Apple executives to lead software and services operations for electric, autonomous, and connected vehicles.
- Baris Cetinok appointed as senior VP of software and services product management.
- Strategic move to enhance GM's technology innovation in the automotive sector.
General Motors has chosen two former Apple executives to lead its software and services division. Baris Cetinok is now in charge of managing software and services products, while Dave Richardson will oversee software engineering. They both started working at GM in September. This decision is part of GM's plan to make more money from software and services and switch from traditional cars to electric ones. Cetinok has lots of experience in product development and design, having worked at big companies like Microsoft, Amazon, and Apple. He was responsible for launching services like Apple Pay and iCloud at Apple. Richardson, who also worked at Apple for many years, led the engineering of services like iCloud and FaceTime. Both Cetinok and Richardson will report directly to GM's CEO, Mary Barra, and will work at the company's technical center in Mountain View, California. This move shows GM's commitment to developing electric, self-driving, and connected vehicles.
