Former President Trump endorses John McGuire over Bob Good in Virginia primary race

One of America’s most conservative congressmen, Rep. Bob Good, is facing a serious primary challenge in Virginia after his opponent was endorsed by former President Donald Trump. State Sen. John McGuire has mounted a strong challenge against Good, highlighting frictions within the party. Voters in two other districts are nominating candidates to fill open seats left by popular incumbents Abigail Spanberger and Jennifer Wexton. The race for the U.S. Senate nomination in Virginia is also underway, with Republicans selecting a candidate to challenge Democrat Tim Kaine. Trump's endorsement of McGuire has intensified the primary battle, with Good defending his support for Trump and criticizing McGuire as a serial campaigner. If Good loses, he would be the first House incumbent to fall to a primary challenge this year. In another district, a competitive race is unfolding to succeed Wexton, attracting a diverse field of candidates. The winner will face Congresswoman Jen Kiggans in the general election. In the Senate race, five Republicans are competing for the chance to challenge Kaine, who is running unopposed for a third term. However, winning against Kaine in a state that hasn't elected a Republican to the U.S. Senate since 2002 will be a tough battle for the Republican nominee.
