Two men shot in separate incidents in Chicago

In recent incidents of violence in Chicago, two separate shootings occurred on expressways, impacting commuters and leading to lane closures. The first shooting took place on the inbound Stevenson Expressway near Halsted Street, resulting in one fatality in a single-car crash. The second shooting occurred on The Bishop Ford Freeway near the I-94 southbound exit to Stony Island, involving a tow truck driver who stopped to help someone and ended up in a road rage incident. One person died at the scene, while another was critically injured and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center. The shootings are under investigation by state police. In a separate incident in the Chatham community, two men were shot and wounded in an alley behind the 8900 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue. A 20-year-old man was shot in the leg and is in good condition, while the other victim was shot in the chest and is in critical condition at the University of Chicago Medical Center. Calumet Area detectives are investigating the shooting. On the city's West Side, two men were hospitalized after being shot at a red light in Humboldt Park. The victims, aged 25 and 35, were inside a car when another vehicle drove alongside them and occupants began shooting. The 25-year-old driver sustained multiple gunshot wounds and is in critical condition at Stroger Hospital, while the 35-year-old passenger was shot in the hand, leg, and abdomen and is in good condition at Mt. Sinai Hospital. Chicago police are investigating the incident, and no suspects are currently in custody. Area 4 detectives are handling the case.
