Boxer Files Complaint Against Musk and Rowling

Imane Khelif, the Algerian boxer who recently won gold at the Paris Olympics, has publicly addressed comments made by former President Donald Trump, who referred to her as a man during a rally in Montana. Khelif, who has faced intense scrutiny regarding her gender, expressed her hurt and fear over the backlash, stating, "I cannot describe how scared I was." She emphasized her identity as a woman, asserting, "I was born as a woman, I live as a woman, and I am qualified." The controversy surrounding Khelif's gender has drawn attention from various public figures, including Elon Musk and J.K. Rowling, leading to a cyberbullying lawsuit filed by her attorney, Nabil Boudi. The lawsuit targets several celebrities for their social media comments, which Khelif describes as a "misogynist, racist and sexist campaign." Boudi confirmed that the complaint has been submitted to the Paris Prosecutor’s Office, with potential fines for those found guilty of online hate speech. Khelif's Olympic victory has been celebrated in Algeria, where she was honored to carry her nation's flag at the closing ceremony. Despite the challenges she has faced, Khelif remains focused on her achievements in women's boxing, stating, "Sports and politics are two separate things." The International Olympic Committee has defended her participation, clarifying that eligibility is based on passport details, while the International Boxing Association has faced criticism for its handling of gender testing protocols.
