Team GB received a warm welcome upon their return to London, highlighted by diver Tom Daley's revelation that he accidentally left his silver medal in Paris. Daley, who secured the medal in the men's synchronised 10m platform event alongside Noah Williams, announced his retirement shortly after the Games. Speaking at St Pancras train station, he expressed gratitude towards his husband, Dustin Lance Black, for supporting their family during his Olympic journey. Daley confirmed that the medal has been located and is en route back to London. Among the returning athletes was Bryony Page, who made history by winning Team GB's first-ever gold medal in trampolining. She was joined by triathlon champion Alex Yee and bronze-winning twins Laviai and Lina Nielsen. Despite the celebratory atmosphere, the overall performance of Team GB raised concerns, as the team finished with a total of 14 medals, the lowest count since the 2004 Athens Olympics. The medal tally revealed a significant drop in golds, with only one gold medal in swimming compared to four in Tokyo three years prior. Additionally, Ben Proud narrowly missed out on gold in the men's 50m freestyle, finishing just 0.05 seconds behind. On the track, sprinter Daryll Neita and Dina Asher-Smith both finished fourth in their respective events, missing out on bronze by mere fractions of a second, underscoring the competitive nature of the Games.
