A large-scale air and sea search is currently in progress in the North Sea following reports of a person who is feared to have fallen overboard from a vessel linked to the oil industry. The search operation, which began after a distress call was received at approximately 8:15 AM, involves ten ships and multiple rescue teams, focusing on an area around 60 nautical miles northeast of Peterhead, Aberdeenshire. The individual is believed to have been on a boat situated about 35 nautical miles northeast of Fraserburgh when the alarm was raised. As of now, authorities have not confirmed the gender of the missing person, and the search efforts are being coordinated by HM Coastguard. The agency was alerted to the situation following the distress signal from the vessel. Assisting in the search are various rescue assets, including a coastguard helicopter from Inverness, an oil and gas industry rescue helicopter from Aberdeen, and a fixed-wing coastguard aircraft.
