Manchester United Extends Snapdragon Sponsorship Deal to 2029
- Manchester United extends Snapdragon sponsorship deal until 2029.
- Qualcomm triggers two-year extension option on front-of-shirt deal.
- Positive move for both parties, indicating a strong partnership.
Manchester United has confirmed that Qualcomm, its front-of-shirt sponsor, has activated a two-year extension option on their partnership, which was initially set for three years. The deal, valued at $75 million annually, commenced at the start of the 2024-25 season, with Snapdragon, a Qualcomm subsidiary, taking the prominent sponsorship role. This decision comes after a productive meeting between United's new CEO Omar Berrada and Snapdragon's chief marketing officer Don McGuire in Los Angeles, as well as a visit to Qualcomm's headquarters in San Diego by United's executive team and first-team players. The sponsorship agreement covers not only the men's and women's teams but also the club's academy kits. Snapdragon, known for producing chips used in billions of devices worldwide, will also introduce a back-of-shirt sponsorship for the first time in United's history. While the back of the jerseys will remain unsponsored during Premier League and UEFA Europa League matches, there will be opportunities for sponsorship in domestic cup competitions and Women’s Super League games. This new deal follows the club's previous sponsorship with TeamViewer, which ended in 2022 after the German software firm opted not to renew its five-year contract. United and TeamViewer reached a mutual agreement to transition from a shirt sponsor to a global partner. Additionally, the club recently secured a £900 million, 10-year renewal with kit supplier Adidas, further solidifying its commercial partnerships.
