CHICAGO (CBS) – In a unique fundraising effort, Frank Giannelli embarked on a 100-mile jet ski journey from Chicago to Saugatuck, Michigan, to support the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation's "Get Behind The Vest" initiative. This program aims to provide essential life-saving body armor to police officers. Giannelli set off from the Chicago Yacht Club at approximately 7:15 a.m. on Thursday, receiving a celebratory water salute as he departed. The ambitious journey has been a year in the making for Giannelli, who purchased his jet ski with the intention of combining his passion for water sports with a charitable cause. "I actually bought my jet ski about a year ago, and the two ideas came together, and there it was," he explained. His preparation included rigorous physical training, as he has been biking and working out to build the necessary endurance for the long ride.
