Story

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Family and friends of actor Johnny Wactor gathered on Tuesday to demand action from the public and officials in the wake of his tragic death. Wactor, known for his role in "General Hospital," was shot on May 25 while attempting to thwart thieves stealing the catalytic converter from his vehicle in downtown Los Angeles. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the case. At a news conference outside Los Angeles City Hall, Scarlett Wactor, the actor's mother, urged anyone with information to come forward. “It will help me and his brothers in our healing to know that they’ve been captured and convicted,” she stated. The Los Angeles Police Department has also appealed for public assistance, releasing surveillance images of three unidentified suspects and their getaway vehicle, a stolen 2018 black Infiniti Q50. Johnny Wactor, originally from Charleston, South Carolina, had a diverse acting career, appearing in popular series such as "Station 19," "NCIS," and "Westworld." His mother recounted the tragic circumstances of his death, revealing that he was shot by a masked assailant after mistakenly believing someone was towing his car. “Grief is my constant companion,” she expressed, reflecting on the pain of not being able to celebrate her son’s upcoming birthday. The gathering also saw calls for increased action from local leaders, including Mayor Karen Bass, to address rising crime rates in the city.
