Story

On August 29, Paramount released a trailer for a new film that serves as a prequel to a classic horror story. The film features Julia Garner in the role of Terry, a young dancer who relocates to New York City in 1965 with dreams of stardom. However, her aspirations take a dark turn when she suffers an injury while dancing, resulting in a limp that complicates her career ambitions. Terry's life takes an unexpected twist when she is invited to live with a couple named Minnie and Roman, portrayed by Dianne Wiest and Jim Sturgess, respectively. Initially, this seems like a fortunate opportunity, but after a night she struggles to remember, she begins to sense that something sinister is at play. The film's synopsis hints at a deeper mystery surrounding the apartment and the building itself, known as the Bramford. As Terry navigates her new living situation, she becomes increasingly aware of the unsettling atmosphere and the strange behavior of those around her. Her suspicions grow, particularly regarding the fate of the previous tenant, which adds to the film's tension. The trailer captures her growing unease, culminating in her realization that the sacrifices she must make for her career may come at a terrifying cost. The film, which also stars Marli Siu, Andrew Buchan, Rosy McEwen, and Kobna Koldbrook-Smith, is set to stream on Paramount+ starting September 27, offering viewers a chilling glimpse into the events leading up to the original story.
