Freddie Highmore to Star in The Assassin Series

Freddie Highmore, known for his portrayal of Dr. Sean Murphy in the medical drama "The Good Doctor," is set to star in the upcoming Amazon Prime thriller "The Assassin." Highmore will play Edward, the son of a retired assassin named Julie, portrayed by Keeley Hawes. The series follows Julie, who has retreated to a secluded life on a Greek island with her estranged son, as he seeks answers about his father and her past. However, their lives take a dangerous turn when Julie's history catches up with them, forcing the duo to flee. The six-episode series, created by Harry and Jack Williams, began filming in Greece in August. The narrative centers on Edward's struggle to find the right moment to confront his mother about his paternity. Just as he prepares to ask, their lives are thrown into chaos, leading them on a perilous journey as they evade threats from Julie's past. Highmore, now 32, has transitioned successfully from child actor to adult star, gaining fame from films like "Finding Neverland" and "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," as well as the series "Bates Motel." He expressed gratitude for his time on "The Good Doctor," calling it a remarkable experience. Keeley Hawes, 48, is also recognized for her roles in "Line of Duty" and "Bodyguard," and recently starred in the film "Scoop." The Williams brothers, known for their work on acclaimed series like "Fleabag" and "The Missing," are behind this new project, further solidifying their reputation in the television industry.
