As the fifth largest school district in California and the largest in the Sacramento region, Elk Grove Unified boasts a diverse student body, with enrollment exceeding 63,000 this year, according to the California Department of Education. Among the district's distinguished alumni is Grammy-nominated artist Saweetie, born Diamonte Harper, who recently returned to her roots to film a music video for her song "My Best." Saweetie, a 2011 graduate of Monterey Trail High School, revisits familiar locations in the school, including the cafeteria and classrooms, while rapping about her journey and dedication to excellence. During her high school years, Saweetie was not only a talented musician but also a standout athlete, earning the title of Athlete of the Year for her achievements in volleyball. Her former math teacher, Bailey Green, recalls the positive impact she had on her peers and emphasizes the inspiration her success provides to current students. "If she could do that, then they could do it, too," Green remarked, highlighting the motivational influence of Saweetie's accomplishments.
