Ofgem's chief executive, Jonathan Brearley, emphasized that while the process is being streamlined, it does not equate to unrestricted funding for developers. The Labour government aims to position Britain as a clean energy superpower by 2030, necessitating substantial updates to the energy grid. The National Grid estimates that nearly £60 billion will be required to achieve climate change mitigation goals within the next decade.
