NEW YORK, Aug. 21 (UPI) -- Lisa Kudrow, known for her role in "Friends," has expressed her initial reservations about her new sci-fi comedy series, "Time Bandits," but ultimately found joy in its whimsical nature. Kudrow described the experience of stepping onto various sets as akin to entering a piece of artwork, highlighting the show's diverse settings that range from medieval times to the Ice Age and the 1990s. She reflected on the excitement of exploring these different eras through her character's adventures. In her role, Kudrow portrays Penelope, a character with a unique background. She noted that Penelope is not in a formal relationship, having been previously engaged to someone who mysteriously disappeared. This aspect of her character allows Kudrow to explore themes of ignorance and confidence, as Penelope navigates a world she believes she understands. "It's very fun to play someone who's just ignorant of the ways of the world," she remarked. Kudrow also praised her co-star, Kal-El Tuck, calling him a "dream" to work with and commending his mother, Louise, for her supportive presence on set. The actress shared that the cast often looked out for Tuck when his mother was unavailable, fostering a friendly atmosphere during production. As the series expands the original film's narrative from two hours to nearly ten, Kudrow acknowledged the necessity for changes. She encouraged fans of the original "Time Bandits" to embrace the series' fun approach, while also expressing pride in her involvement with the show's stunts, including floating through time portals.
