Los Angeles, Aug. 8 (UPI) — A jury has convicted 42-year-old Freddie Lee Trone for his role in the fatal shooting of rapper PnB Rock, whose real name was Rakim Hasheem Allen, at a South Los Angeles restaurant in September 2022. Trone was found guilty on two counts of second-degree robbery and one count of conspiracy to commit robbery, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office. PnB Rock was shot on September 12, 2022, while dining at Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles. Authorities reported that officers responded to a robbery call at approximately 1:15 p.m. and discovered Allen suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The incident occurred when a gunman attempted to rob Allen and a female companion, resulting in the rapper being shot multiple times before the assailant fled the scene. Prosecutors revealed that Trone had orchestrated the robbery through his then-17-year-old son, who was the one to carry out the attack. Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon expressed that justice has been served for Allen's family, emphasizing the office's commitment to pursuing justice for victims of violence. In addition to Trone's conviction, a second defendant, Tremont Jones, was also found guilty of robbery-related charges, while a third defendant, Shauntel Trone, pleaded no contest to being an accessory after the fact. Shauntel Trone is scheduled for sentencing on January 16, while her brother's mental competency proceedings are set for August 28.
