Stanley Kotowski, a 60-year-old man, was reported missing after leaving his family's vacation rental on Hilton Head Island last Friday morning. According to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office, Kotowski was last seen barefoot and without personal belongings, including his phone and wallet. His family expressed concern for his well-being, noting that he has been experiencing heightened anxiety and paranoia, believing someone was following him. The search for Kotowski began shortly after he was reported missing, approximately two hours after his last sighting. Master Sergeant Daniel Allen of the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office indicated that Kotowski has been classified as endangered due to his mental state and the circumstances surrounding his disappearance. He was last captured on a Ring camera, which raised further concerns given that he was not wearing shoes. As of Tuesday, search efforts have continued across various terrains, including air, land, and water, but have yet to yield any significant leads. Allen reported that while there have been some tips, none have led to Kotowski's discovery. The family remains hopeful and is committed to staying on Hilton Head Island until he is found. In a heartfelt plea, Jackie Kotowski, Stanley's wife, expressed the family's desire for his safe return, stating, “We just want him to come home.” His son, Zak, also reached out to his father, emphasizing their love and concern. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the sheriff's office at 843-524-2777.
