Mumbai Police's Crime Branch Unit 8 conducted a raid on a fraudulent recruitment office in Andheri (East) on a recent date, leading to the arrest of a 52-year-old man named Krishna Tripathi. The operation was initiated after a victim filed a First Information Report (FIR) at the MIDC police station, revealing the deceptive practices of the company. The fake recruitment agency, E Axis Immigration Services Pvt Ltd, was established three years ago by Imran Chamandi and Haqib, who targeted unemployed individuals with false job offers in the UK and Europe. The police investigation uncovered that the agency employed several agents who lured job seekers with promises of employment as drivers, accountants, and office boys. While Chamandi is currently outside Mumbai, Haqib has been managing the operations from Dubai, indicating a broader network of deceit. The raid resulted in the seizure of numerous items, including 45 Vodafone SIM cards, 10 Jio SIM cards, laptops, mobile phones, fake stamps, and a significant amount of cash totaling Rs1,22,000. The authorities are now focusing on the broader implications of this recruitment racket, as it highlights the vulnerability of unemployed youth who are desperate for job opportunities. The police have emphasized the importance of verifying the legitimacy of recruitment agencies to prevent such scams in the future. Tripathi has been presented in court and is currently in police custody until September 3, as investigations continue to unravel the extent of the operation. This incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing issue of fraudulent recruitment practices in the region, prompting law enforcement to take a more proactive approach in addressing such crimes. The police are likely to pursue further leads to apprehend the remaining individuals involved in this racket, ensuring that justice is served for the victims affected by these scams.
