Urban Fest Set to Celebrate Street Culture in Sunderland

Sunderland is gearing up for Urban Fest, a free festival dedicated to street culture, scheduled for next month. The event will highlight various sports, including BMXing and skateboarding, while also showcasing art and music. Professional skateboarders Alex Halford and Owen "Sox" Watkins are set to perform demonstrations, alongside BMX rider 3Sixty, who will display an array of stunts. Organized by the Sunderland Business Improvement District (BID), Urban Fest aims to "shine a spotlight on street culture," according to CEO Sharon Appleby. The festival promises a range of activities for attendees, emphasizing participation and enjoyment. Workshops will be conducted by experts from King Ramps and 3Sixty, providing opportunities for attendees to learn new skills. In addition to sports demonstrations, the festival will feature a dance battle open to dancers from across the region, encouraging local talent to showcase their skills.
