MEDFORD - Anheuser-Busch has revealed plans to lay off nearly 200 workers at its Medford facility as part of a transition to new ownership. The Budweiser brewer has decided to transfer its wholesaler operations at 440 Riverside Ave. to Quality Beverage, a move aimed at ensuring long-term success for its brand portfolio and enhancing service to retail customers across Massachusetts. In a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) filed with the state, Anheuser-Busch indicated that 193 employees would be impacted by the layoffs, which are set to take effect in November. The company emphasized its commitment to supporting affected employees during this transition period. Anheuser-Busch's chief sales officer, Simon Wuestenberg, stated that the operational changes are part of a broader strategy to optimize the company's distribution network. He expressed confidence that the transition would facilitate continued growth for the company's iconic brands while maintaining high service standards. Quality Beverage, the new distributor, is owned by Martignetti Companies and operates several distribution facilities across Massachusetts. Anheuser-Busch has indicated that it is working closely with Quality Beverage to ensure a smooth transition and that some job opportunities may be available for affected employees within the new organization.
