Passenger assaults flight attendants on Frontier Airlines flight to SFO

A 30-year-old man from Fremont, Charles Angel Salva, was arrested after causing a violent disturbance on a Frontier Airlines flight from Orange County to San Francisco. The incident occurred shortly after takeoff when flight attendants noticed oxygen masks had dropped from the overhead compartment, leading to Salva's distress. Witnesses reported that he appeared claustrophobic and began yelling obscenities, claiming the plane was going down. As the situation escalated, Salva violently grabbed at passengers and attempted to choke a flight attendant with her lanyard. He also threatened to kill everyone on board, prompting other passengers to assist in restraining him. Despite their efforts, Salva broke free from two sets of flex cuffs, continuing to kick and swing at those trying to help. The flight crew decided to divert the plane to Ontario International Airport due to safety concerns. Upon landing, police found Salva restrained by passengers, including his brother, and he was taken to a local hospital for evaluation. One flight attendant sustained injuries and was also hospitalized. Salva faces federal charges for interfering with flight crew members, with a potential maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. The Department of Justice has requested pretrial detention to ensure his appearance in court and to protect public safety.
