In Louisiana earlier this month, Tyler Pugh, a 33-year-old from Baton Rouge, led police on a high-speed pursuit that lasted around 20 minutes. The chase began when officers attempted a routine traffic stop for speeding over 10 miles per hour above the limit. Pugh's reckless driving reached speeds exceeding 100 mph as he navigated through interstate traffic before exiting into residential neighborhoods, where he drove through yards in an effort to evade capture. The pursuit ended abruptly when Pugh crashed into a tree and overturned his vehicle while being pursued by police. He then accelerated backwards into a patrol car before crashing into another tree. This chaotic scene resulted in state police firing shots at the vehicle, injuring two people onboard, including Pugh. Following the incident, Pugh and a passenger were hospitalized and later arrested on outstanding warrants. The officer involved in the shooting has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.
