Authorities have arrested five individuals linked to the overdose death of actor Matthew Perry, which occurred on October 28, 2023. Among those arrested is Iwamasa, who allegedly procured over $55,000 worth of ketamine for Perry over a month leading up to his death. The group includes Jasveen Sangha, known as the "ketamine queen," and two doctors, Salvador Plasencia and Mark Chavez, along with drug broker Erik Fleming. Court documents reveal that Iwamasa admitted to injecting Perry with ketamine multiple times, including on the day of his death, despite lacking medical training. Dr. Chavez is accused of retaining ketamine lozenges prescribed under a fraudulent prescription and transferring at least 12 vials of ketamine to Plasencia in the weeks prior to Perry's death. Plasencia reportedly met with Perry at his home, administering two shots of ketamine. Iwamasa's communications indicate that Perry sought to purchase eight vials of the drug, rather than seeking treatment sessions, highlighting the illicit nature of their dealings. The investigation uncovered a network of conspirators, with Sangha and Plasencia facing charges of conspiracy to distribute ketamine. Both have agreed to plea deals, with Chavez also set to plead guilty to similar charges. The case underscores the dangers of unregulated drug distribution and the tragic consequences that can arise from such actions. Perry, who was 54 at the time of his death, is remembered for his significant contributions to television and film.
