IRWIN, Pa. — The Norwin community in Westmoreland County gathered on Friday to honor the memories of two young football players, Josiah Pastories, 19, and Colin Bargiel, 16, who tragically lost their lives in separate accidents. The remembrance took place before the first high school football game of the season against Penn-Trafford, highlighting the impact these young men had on their teammates and the community. Josiah Pastories, who died in a car crash in June, was remembered fondly by his mother, Lisa Marie Pastories. She described him as an enthusiastic team player who brought energy and excitement to the field. "He would get pumped up, he would pump up the team," she recalled, reflecting on the last time she saw him two months prior to his untimely death. A former coach also shared heartfelt memories, emphasizing Josiah's kindness and willingness to help others. Colin Bargiel, who passed away in a dirtbike accident in April, was also honored during the event. His mother, McNelis, expressed her grief, stating that he should be out on the field doing what he loved. "He absolutely should be out there playing this game," she said, mourning the future he would never have. The evening included a poignant moment of silence, allowing players, coaches, and fans to remember the two boys who left a lasting legacy in their community and on the football team.
