Renowned filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, known for his work on "The Shape of Water," has shared unsettling experiences during his stay at a hotel in Aberdeen, Scotland. The director took to social media to express his discomfort with the room he selected, describing it as having an “oppressive” atmosphere and suggesting that a supernatural presence might be accompanying him. Del Toro's choice to occupy the room came after one of his producers vacated it due to “odd electrical and physical occurrences” that frightened her. Despite the eerie ambiance, del Toro welcomed the chance to stay in a room reputed to be haunted. However, he quickly noted that he would not be spending the night there, opting instead to sleep in a different room to ensure he gets the necessary rest for his upcoming film shoot. He humorously remarked, “I need six hours of sleep to have a good shooting day,” while still feeling the weight of an unseen presence in the room. Del Toro is currently in Scotland to work on a new adaptation of Mary Shelley’s classic novel "Frankenstein," featuring Oscar Isaac in the role of Victor Frankenstein and Jacob Elordi as the Monster. Reflecting on his past experiences, he mentioned that while he often seeks out haunted locations, he has only encountered something supernatural once before, expressing hope that this time might be different.
