Powdr Corp. Sells Killington Resort and Pico Mountain to Local Investors

Powdr Corp., the owner of several ski resorts across the U.S. and Canada, announced on Thursday the sale of Vermont's Killington Resort and Pico Mountain to a group of local passholders. This transaction marks a significant shift for the largest mountain resort in New England, as Powdr aims to focus on its remaining properties and other business ventures. The company plans to list three additional resorts for sale in the near future, including Eldora in Colorado, Mt. Bachelor in Oregon, and SilverStar in British Columbia. The new ownership group is committed to maintaining the resorts' local character and enhancing community engagement, sustainability, and capital investment. Powdr, which acquired Killington in 2007, will retain a minority stake in the resort and maintain a seat on its board of directors. Stacey Hutchinson, a spokesperson for Powdr, expressed optimism about the future under local management, emphasizing their shared commitment to the resort's long-term success. Killington has been a prominent venue on the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup tour, and the new owners plan to continue its legacy. The resort expressed gratitude for Powdr's stewardship, highlighting improvements made during their ownership, including advancements in infrastructure and snowmaking capabilities. Importantly, both Killington and Pico will remain part of the popular Ikon ski pass, ensuring continued access for skiers. Despite the ownership change, there will be no alterations to the current leadership or management structure at Killington and Pico, allowing for a seamless transition as the new owners take charge.
