Banker Tracked by MNS Escapes Police Again
- A banker who was on the run for cheating has been tracked down by MNS workers in Navi Mumbai.
- Despite being caught, the banker managed to escape from the police once again.
- The police's hold over jurisdiction loosened during the chase.
A banker, Ramakant Parida, who has been evading authorities for months after allegedly defrauding three policemen of Rs2.31 crore, was spotted by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) workers in Navi Mumbai on Wednesday. Despite the MNS alerting the police control room, Parida managed to escape once more, highlighting ongoing challenges in apprehending him. The case against Parida and his family was registered by Nerul police in April, following accusations of cheating the officers under the guise of a land deal. The MNS team, led by Sanjay Patil, identified Parida in a building at Sanpada village. After being taken to the local police station, Parida was left unattended and subsequently fled. Sanpada police clarified that he was not wanted in any local cases, as the warrant for his arrest originated from Nerul police, who failed to arrive for his custody. This lack of coordination allowed Parida to slip away yet again. The FIR against Parida was filed by constable Sundar Singh Thakur, who, along with his colleagues, had befriended the banker in 2021. They were lured into a fraudulent land deal in Khalapur, which never materialized, leaving the officers burdened with loan repayments. Meanwhile, Nerul police expressed frustration over the lack of communication regarding Parida's sighting, stating that timely information could have led to his capture. The ongoing saga underscores the complexities of law enforcement collaboration and the challenges faced in tracking down fugitives.
