In East Delhi's Shakarpur, a 30-year-old man named Karan was arrested for secretly filming a woman tenant in her home. The victim, a competitive exam aspirant living alone, discovered unusual activity on her WhatsApp account, which led her to investigate further. Upon checking her home, she found a hidden camera in the bathroom's bulb holder, prompting her to contact the police. Authorities responded quickly, conducting a thorough search of the premises and uncovering another camera in the bedroom. The woman had previously entrusted Karan, her landlord's son, with her house keys while she was away in Uttar Pradesh. During questioning, Karan confessed to installing the cameras three months prior, using the guise of needing to repair electrical fixtures to gain access to her home. He had purchased three spy cameras and used them to record videos without her consent. The cameras stored footage on memory cards, which Karan intended to transfer to his laptop. Police recovered one camera and two laptops from Karan, which contained the recorded videos. A case has been registered against him under Section 77 of the BNS Act, and he is currently in custody. Karan, who has been preparing for competitive exams for seven years without success, is also physically challenged. The investigation is ongoing, highlighting serious concerns about privacy violations and the misuse of trust in landlord-tenant relationships.
