Yankees Acquire Jazz Chisholm Jr. from Marlins

The New York Yankees have announced the acquisition of outfielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. from the Miami Marlins. Originally signed as a shortstop from the Bahamas, Chisholm has showcased his versatility by playing primarily at second base and transitioning to center field last season. Despite battling injuries, including a stress fracture in his lower back that limited his 2022 All-Star season to just 60 games, Chisholm has managed to appear in 101 games this season, batting .249 with 13 home runs and a .730 OPS. Chisholm's addition comes at a crucial time for the Yankees, who have faced challenges with their current roster. Chisholm could provide a much-needed boost, potentially playing center field while allowing Aaron Judge to shift to left field, or filling in at second base against right-handed pitchers. Despite a tough July, where he batted .198 with a .642 OPS, Chisholm's power potential, particularly to the pull side, could be advantageous at Yankee Stadium.
