Teens Arrested for Planned Attack at Taylor Swift Concerts

Authorities in Vienna have arrested a third teenager linked to a foiled terrorist attack aimed at Taylor Swift's concerts, which were scheduled for this week. The 18-year-old Iraqi citizen, while not directly involved in the plot, had communicated with the main suspect and recently pledged allegiance to the Islamic State. The main suspect, a 19-year-old Austrian of North Macedonian descent, has confessed to planning the attack, alleviating immediate concerns about public safety. The investigation revealed that the suspects had detailed plans to replicate high-casualty attacks similar to those in Paris and Manchester. Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer emphasized the seriousness of the threat, stating that the suspects intended to cause mass casualties using explosives and weapons. Concert organizers, anticipating large crowds, canceled the shows to prioritize safety. Police discovered a cache of weapons and explosives at the main suspect's home, including machetes, knives, and counterfeit currency. The second suspect, a 17-year-old, had recently begun working at the concert venue, while a 15-year-old boy questioned by authorities is now considered a witness. Despite the arrests, officials have stated that no further suspects are being sought. The cancellation of the concerts has disappointed many fans, with the interior minister announcing plans to revoke the Iraqi suspect's residency permit due to his extremist ties.
