Car Catches Fire at Gas Station in Rancho Cordova

RANCHO CORDOVA – A dramatic incident unfolded at a Chevron gas station in Sacramento County early Sunday morning when a car caught fire. The event occurred at the intersection of Folsom Boulevard and Hazel Avenue, prompting a swift response from local fire crews. According to Metro Fire of Sacramento, the driver had exited Highway 50 after experiencing unusual shaking in their vehicle. Unbeknownst to the driver, a rear tire had blown, leading to a fire that ignited the compromised tire. The driver, unaware of the danger, pulled into the gas station, where the flames quickly spread, engulfing the car. Firefighters arrived promptly at the scene and were able to extinguish the flames before any injuries were reported. Fortunately, the quick action of the fire crews prevented a potentially more dangerous situation, as the fire could have escalated in the presence of fuel. Despite the successful containment of the fire, one gas pump sustained damage during the incident.
