Police Make Major Arrests in San Fernando Valley Burglaries
- Multiple small businesses targeted by burglars in San Fernando Valley.
- Police announce significant arrests related to ongoing burglaries.
- Growing trend of crime impacting the area is a cause for concern.
In a troubling trend for residents and small business owners in the San Fernando Valley, a series of burglaries occurred within a four-hour span on Tuesday morning, affecting multiple establishments including two pharmacies, a shoe store, a computer shop, and a smoke shop. The incidents have raised concerns among the community, which has been grappling with ongoing criminal activity in the area. David Far, owner of TEKDEP, a computer store in Canoga Park, reported that two suspects in dark clothing broke into his store around 3 a.m., stealing computers, equipment, and a firearm. Far noted that the surveillance footage cut out during the incident, leading him to suspect the use of a WiFi blocker by the burglars. Shortly after, a high-end shoe store, Sneaker Hustle, was also targeted by what police believe to be the same suspects, who were driving a white van. In addition to these break-ins, two pharmacies were burglarized between 3:15 and 4:15 a.m., although investigators are still determining if any items were stolen. Police have made significant arrests in recent weeks, with one suspect having a notable criminal history involving prior burglaries and violent offenses. Authorities believe these arrests may help reduce the frequency of such crimes in the area. In response to the rising crime rates, law enforcement has increased patrols in affected neighborhoods, and city leaders have organized an online public safety forum to engage with community concerns and discuss strategies for improving safety.
