NCP MLA Accuses Minister of Favoritism
- NCP MLA Suman Patil accuses PWD Minister Ravindra Chavan of political favoritism in fund distribution.
- Allegations suggest that Patil was directed to approach Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar for fund release.
- This event highlights potential political influence in the allocation of development funds for public projects.
Suman Patil, the widow of late home minister RR Patil, has raised concerns regarding the distribution of development funds in her constituency, Tasgaon-Kavathe Mahankal. Patil claims that she was directed to seek assistance from Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar to secure these funds, highlighting a potential misuse of political influence at the state government level. Her late husband, who served six consecutive terms, had a significant impact on the region's development. In a letter addressed to Public Works Department Minister Ravindra Chavan, Patil recalled a promise made during the December 2023 winter session of the state legislature. She noted that Chavan had acknowledged her late husband's contributions and assured her of support for her constituency. However, upon following up with a memorandum, she was informed that the release of funds was contingent upon her meeting with Ajit Pawar. Patil expressed her frustration over the lack of progress, stating that during a subsequent meeting in March, Chavan indicated his inability to facilitate the funds. This situation has prompted her to take a stand, as she chose to boycott a regional review meeting convened by the minister in Pune, signaling her discontent with the current political dynamics and the handling of development funds. The unfolding events raise questions about the integrity of political processes in Maharashtra, particularly regarding the allocation of resources intended for public welfare.
