Story

In a response to negative portrayals of their community, eight women from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints decided to take action by sharing their personal stories. They wrote, edited, and published "The Not-So-Secret Lives of REAL ‘Mormon’ Wives" in under two months, showcasing how devout members of their faith actually live. This initiative came about as a reaction to a Hulu show that depicted extremes of life as a Mormon woman, including elements such as soft swinging and alcohol consumption, which are considered taboo. The women, including Zumba instructor Kimberly DowDell and real estate agent Esther Jackson-Stowell, felt it was vital to present a more accurate representation of their lives and their connection to faith, emphasizing their love for Jesus Christ and the positive experiences within their community.
