DENVER (AP) — Rookie quarterback Bo Nix showcased his potential in his first NFL start, leading the Denver Broncos to a decisive 27-2 victory over the Green Bay Packers' backups on Sunday night. Nix completed 8 of 9 passes for 90 yards, including a 2-yard touchdown to Tim Patrick, who is making a strong comeback after two seasons sidelined by leg injuries. The Broncos improved to 2-0 in the preseason, with Wil Lutz contributing two field goals to the scoreline. Nix's performance comes after he replaced incumbent Jarrett Stidham in the previous week’s game against Indianapolis. He had a productive week of practice, which included a competitive joint session with the Packers. However, Green Bay's coach Matt LaFleur opted to rest 31 players, including all regular starters, leading to a mismatch on the field. Stidham added to the Broncos' lead with a 9-yard touchdown scramble just before halftime, following an interception return by Keidron Smith. The Packers, starting Sean Clifford in place of Jordan Love, struggled offensively and only managed to score a safety late in the game. Denver's defense was aggressive, with Zach Wilson stepping in as quarterback and facing pressure from the Packers' defense, which recorded a safety and a strip-sack. Despite the win, the Broncos faced discipline issues, receiving 13 penalties for 120 yards. In injury news, Broncos linebacker Jonas Griffith sustained a right shoulder injury during the game but managed to return. The Broncos will host the Arizona Cardinals next Sunday.
