- Authorities make progress in Brentwood kidnapping case with second arrest.
Brentwood police have arrested a second suspect linked to a kidnapping incident that occurred over the weekend. The arrest follows a series of reports received by police on Sunday afternoon regarding a physical altercation between a male and female inside a vehicle. The initial call provided a partial license plate, which enabled authorities to track down the vehicle involved. Subsequent calls prompted a "Be On the Lookout" (BOLO) alert across Contra Costa County and the Bay Area. As the investigation progressed, officers from Pittsburg located and stopped the vehicle, leading to the arrest of 21-year-old James Llarena from San Francisco. He faces multiple charges, including kidnapping and related offenses. The female victim was taken to a medical facility for treatment of injuries sustained during the incident. Investigators revealed that Llarena was known to the victim, raising concerns about the nature of their relationship. Initially, police did not suspect any additional perpetrators; however, further investigation led to the arrest of 19-year-old Elijah Alcala from Antioch on Thursday. Alcala is also charged with kidnapping and related offenses. Llarena has been charged with two counts of kidnapping, two counts of false imprisonment, stalking, and criminal threats, with bail set at $400,000. The case remains under active investigation, and authorities are urging anyone with further information to contact Detective Inerbichler at 925-809-7792, with the option to remain anonymous.
