Story

A 21-year-old man, Cameron Boxall, faces serious charges after allegedly kidnapping a woman in Hove during the early hours of August 5. According to court proceedings, Boxall approached the victim under the pretense of asking for directions before forcibly dragging her into his car. The prosecutor described the incident as involving a high level of force, with the victim managing to escape by rolling out of the vehicle, sustaining significant injuries in the process. Prosecutor Charlotte Frost presented evidence to Brighton Magistrates Court, including CCTV footage showing Boxall purchasing yellow rubber gloves shortly before the attack. The victim's screams reportedly drew the attention of passersby, highlighting the terrifying nature of the incident. Frost emphasized the severity of the woman's injuries, which included significant bruising, as a result of the forced kidnapping. Sussex Police have initiated an investigation following the victim's report of the kidnapping at the junction of Selbourne Road and Church Road. District Judge Amanda Kelly has referred the case to the Crown Court for further proceedings. Superintendent Petra Lazar commended the community for their support during the investigation and urged anyone with relevant information or CCTV footage to come forward. Boxall, who resides in Brighton, is charged with multiple offenses, including kidnap, vehicle theft, and possession of cannabis. Two additional suspects, aged 21 and 29, have been released on conditional bail as inquiries continue. Boxall is scheduled to appear in Crown Court next month.
