India Hicks, granddaughter of Lord Louis Mountbatten, celebrated her 57th birthday while reflecting on her family's legacy. On that tragic day, India chose to stay behind and watch a film instead of joining her grandfather on a fishing trip, a decision that ultimately saved her life. The bombing claimed the lives of several family members, including Lord Mountbatten and his grandson Nicholas. India's connection to the royal family is significant; she was a bridesmaid at the wedding of Prince Charles and Diana in 1981. Her mother, Lady Pamela Hicks, also served as a bridesmaid to Queen Elizabeth.
