BJP Leader Claims Murdered Doctor Knew About Hospital Corruption
- BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari claims murdered doctor was aware of hospital corruption.
- Allegations include drug racket and black marketeering of medicines at the R.G. Kar Medical College.
- Calls for ED investigation intensify amidst the claims.
In a shocking revelation, Suvendu Adhikari, the leader of the opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, alleged that the junior doctor found raped and murdered on August 9 was targeted due to her knowledge of significant irregularities at R.G. Kar Medical College. Speaking at a BJP demonstration near the college, Adhikari claimed that the victim had uncovered a range of illicit activities, including a drug racket and the black market sale of medicines, which ultimately led to her brutal demise. He further alleged that efforts were made to destroy evidence following the crime, including the manipulation of the duty roster for the night of the incident. In a related development, former deputy superintendent of R.G. Kar, Akhtar Ali, has petitioned the Calcutta High Court for an Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigation into former Principal Sandip Ghosh. Ali's petition, which has been permitted by Justice Rajarshi Bharadwaj, alleges that Ghosh was involved in serious misconduct, including the recycling of biomedical waste to Bangladesh and a body scam. Ali claims to have been the first to report Ghosh's activities to various authorities, including the Anti-Corruption Branch and the Chief Minister's office. As the investigation unfolds, Ghosh has been under interrogation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for six days. Ali has also requested protection from the court, highlighting the gravity of the situation and the potential risks involved in exposing the alleged corruption at the medical institution. The case continues to draw public attention and raises concerns about safety and accountability within the healthcare system.
