A reckless driving incident in Peterborough has resulted in serious injuries to a spectator after a driver attempted to 'drift' around a roundabout. Albert Hall, 22, lost control of his purple Mazda MX5 during the stunt, crashing into a crowd of car enthusiasts on September 2. The collision left a 21-year-old man with a bleed on the brain, a fractured skull, and leg injuries, according to police reports. Mobile phone footage released by authorities captured the moment Hall's vehicle began to lose traction while attempting to drift. While another car successfully navigated the roundabout, Hall's Mazda screeched as it veered off course, ultimately striking the victim. Following the incident, Hall fled the scene but returned shortly after, with his car later discovered hidden nearby. Upon inspection, police deemed Hall's vehicle unroadworthy, citing dangerous modifications, exposed tire cords, and missing parts. Hall appeared at Cambridge Crown Court, where he admitted to causing serious injury by dangerous driving and was subsequently disqualified from driving for two years. He will also be required to pass an extended re-test before regaining his license. PC Chris Euerby of Cambridgeshire Police emphasized the severity of the situation, noting that the victim's injuries were life-changing and that Hall's driving behavior, coupled with the car's modifications, posed significant risks. He urged car enthusiasts to prioritize safety and warned that dangerous driving would be met with strict consequences.
