Peaky Blinders creator plans to open Birmingham

Steven Knight, the creator of the popular drama series, has announced plans to establish a Digbeth Loc Studio in Los Angeles. This initiative aims to showcase the work of filmmakers from Birmingham and the Midlands, allowing audiences in the US to engage with the creative output from this region. Knight expressed his ambition to highlight the talent and stories emerging from Birmingham, especially as production for the Peaky Blinders film is set to commence across various locations in the West Midlands. The upcoming film will explore the Shelby family's journey during World War Two, with notable actors, including Barry Keoghan, joining the cast. Knight emphasized the importance of utilizing local locations, such as the Black Country Living Museum, to enhance the authenticity of the film. In addition to the studio plans, Knight has initiated a four-week training program aimed at aspiring filmmakers. This initiative has successfully graduated thirteen trainees, equipping them with professional skills and confidence to pursue careers in the film industry.
