A man involved in a series of violent riots in Hull has been sentenced to 56 months in prison for his role in looting and racially motivated attacks. The individual, known as Honey, gained notoriety after being filmed ransacking several shops, including a Lush cosmetics store, during a chaotic 12-hour period of unrest on August 3. The court heard that he was part of a mob that violently confronted three Romanian men, forcing them from their BMW and leaving them in fear for their lives. Witnesses described a scene of terror as over 100 men surrounded the vehicle, with one of the victims recounting being punched and threatened with a metal bar. Video evidence presented in court showed the terrified occupants surrendering and fleeing to safety. Honey was seen in footage carrying a Lush bag filled with stolen products, which the store manager stated had a significant negative impact on staff morale. During the sentencing, Judge John Thackray KC acknowledged Honey's difficult upbringing and developmental issues but emphasized the seriousness of his actions. Honey also pleaded guilty to racially aggravated criminal damage related to the BMW incident and admitted to damaging multiple vehicles during a separate garage attack, where he attempted to ignite a fire that endangered nearby individuals. The judge dismissed any claims of remorse expressed by Honey, focusing instead on the gravity of the offenses committed.
