Lael Wilcox sets record for fastest woman to bike around the world

Lael Wilcox, an American cyclist, embarked on an extraordinary journey starting from Chicago on May 26 and returning on September 11. Over 108 days, she covered a staggering 18,125 miles, claiming the title of the fastest woman to bike around the world. Her route included crossing two antipodal points, Madrid and Wellington, while adhering to Guinness World Records' requirements, which necessitate commercial transportation across oceans. Wilcox faced significant challenges, including climbing 629,880 vertical feet, equivalent to scaling Mount Everest over 21 times. Throughout her journey, she invited fellow cyclists to join her, fostering a sense of community as thousands of supporters showed up along her route.
