WEST SACRAMENTO – Major construction is underway at the IKEA store located just off Interstate 80, as the company has submitted plans to expand the facility by 82,000 square feet. This significant expansion aims to establish a new fulfillment center warehouse, enabling IKEA to introduce home-delivery services in the Sacramento area. The new fulfillment center will facilitate the addition of four all-electric delivery vehicles, which are expected to operate three to four rounds daily. This move aligns with IKEA's commitment to sustainability while enhancing customer convenience through improved delivery options. In addition to bolstering delivery capabilities, the expansion is projected to create 18 new jobs at the West Sacramento location. This development is particularly noteworthy as it marks the only IKEA store in the Sacramento Valley, contrasting with the three locations in the Bay Area, which include stores in Emeryville, Palo Alto, and a newer site in San Francisco. As the construction progresses, local residents and potential customers are eager to see how these enhancements will transform their shopping experience and contribute to the local economy. The expansion reflects IKEA's strategic efforts to adapt to changing consumer demands and improve service offerings in the region.
