Ford stopped shipping new F-150 Lightning electric trucks
Ford stopped shipping its F-150 Lightning electric pickups since February 9. Ford has been holding them for quality inspections since then. The company is holding the vehicles for quality inspection. Ford says it will not sell the electric vehicles to the public until after February 9, 2015.
Ford will shut down one of two production shifts in April at the Dearborn, Michigan, factory. The move is part of “matching F-150 Lightning production to customer demand,” the company says. Ford says the move will be part of the effort to meet customer demand.
Ford cuts F-150 Lightning production, 1,400 jobs affected. Rouge Electric Vehicle Center, where it builds the electric pickup trucks, will use one shift starting in April. The Michigan-based automaker said Friday its Rouge electric vehicle center will use only one shift.
Ford Motor Co. will reportedly cut production of its F-150 Lightning electric trucks next year. Ford will adjust the planned number down to a weekly average of 1,600 electric trucks. Ford says it will adjust that number down from 1,500 to 1,800 electric trucks a week.
