BYD overtook Tesla as the world’s top seller of electric vehicles (EV) at the end of last year. It crowns an extraordinary rise for the Chinese carmaker. BYD is the largest electric carmaker in the world, selling more than 1,000 vehicles a year.

Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD already sells more units than Tesla, which includes hybrid EVs. BYD plans to fully lead as the top EV maker in the world. The manufacturer plans to become the world's top electric vehicle maker in full-electric vehicles. Tesla is already selling more EV units than any other manufacturer, including hybrid vehicles.
