Singapore's first Olympic gold medal was won by swimmer Joseph Schooling

Joseph Schooling won Singapore's first and only Olympic gold medal at Rio de Janeiro in 2016. He beat Michael Phelps in the 100-meter butterfly to win Singapore’s first gold medal. Schooling has announced his retirement from the swimming pool in a press conference in New Zealand.
